I cannot help but notice that you were glad to "pick apart" many verses, but left out Mark 16:16. In the words of Jesus, "He that believeth AND is baptized shall be saved, he that believeth not shall be damned." If you affirm that baptism is not essential for salvation, you make Jesus Christ a liar. If Jesus Christ is a liar, then all of Christianity is a lie, thus not the truth.

Your affirming that baptism is not essential for salvation is, in fact, affirming that Jesus Christ is a liar.

jdbeard2010, absolutely not. you need to let your doctrine be updated by the revelation the ascended Christ gave to the Apostle Paul. In Eph 4: 4,5 Paul says there is one baptism. In Rom. 6 Paul makes it clear that the one baptism is the baptism of the Holy Spirit which occurs the moment one accepts Christ. If you believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit AND water baptism THEN you have two baptisms!! You need to keep the UNITY by following Eph 4.

Actually "Baptism" in 1 Peter 3:21 is not a "type" at all. In fact, "Baptism" is the Anti-type.

Baptism is not a pledge of a good conscience. It is the Appeal toward God FOR a good conscience.

Just as Noah had to get into the Ark in order to be saved, so then do we have to get "into" water baptism in order to be saved.

Peter tells us that Baptism is not a ceremonial act but instead it is the answer toward God for a good conscience.
