Camilla:
Hi everyone, we're on "A ghost story" shooting, in Villa Medici del Vascello in San Giovanni in Croce, Cremona.
The photo set we conceived is based on the legend of the still-wandering spirit of Cecilia Gallerani, the famous "Lady with an ermine" of Leonardo da Vinci, in the vast park of the castle.
The first part of the shooting has the still-living Lady Cecilia sourrounded by splendour and elements evocating vanity and time.
In the second part the lady is dead and she's now a benevolent spirit who wanders melancholically in the garden .
The final part of the set shows the ghost interacting with the photographer, feeling disturbed and turned into an evil ghost, in an escalation of hunting shots which end with the murdering of the photographer herself.
Sara:
The costume we created for shooting 1 is a typical medieval one: the model wears a long, simple aviation-blue tunic with a jewel-button on the chest and a medieval blue and brown silk turban with pearl ornaments. The hair is contained in a simple chignon. As to remind vanity and time passing we placed jewels, a clock, a silver mirror and a marmot fur, recalling the painting.
The outfit of shooting 2 is very silvan, with a long, white dress, as light as a night suit, underlining the passage from solid life to a nostalgic spirit hiding in the woods. The model has only a ribbon in her hair.
Shooting 3 has the model wearing the same white dress (as to enphasize she's the same spirit), but it's been enriched with dark make up and elements (to show the transformation from good to evil): gloves, a stole, black laces.
Francesca:
As for the make up of the living Lady Cecilia I was inspired by Leonardo's painting and stayed on natural effects, while for the good spirit I followed the shape of the model's eye using black pigments and giving the cheecks a marked paleness to have the "corpse" effect. In the third fase of the make up I created an evil appearance by extending the line of the eye with black eyeshadow and red eyeliner in the lower part. I put some red lip gloss only in the middle of the mouth, as to symbolize blood and rage.
Mathias:
Now we have to organize a sort of grave to play Lady Cecilia's death and turning into a spirit. This broken stone bench can be just what we need to create our funeral bed. With some branches and leaves I'm making a crown, inspiring myself to the classic funeral art, while candles will give a gloomy and sinister atmosphere.
Alice:
How did the model feel about this experience?
I've had a really good time, this was great.
