In Japan there were two distinctively different categories of lullabies. One was

a lullaby in its original sense, that is, a song to induce a baby into sleeping,

while another was a song which a hapless baby-sitter or a nurserymaid sang to lament her unhappiness and hardship of her daily chore in servitude for the masters.

"Itsukino Komori Uta" belongs to the latter.
