CRS Presents FILM+VIDEO SHOW & TELL: HOW TO MAKE A TV SHOW - Oct 15, 2011

How do you conceive, plan, create, and shoot a TV show? And what do you do with it after that?

Writer/Actor Alex Kipp and producer/editor Alison Mao present a case study of the hilarious 26-minute pilot they shot for their TV show "Man of the People," explaining how they went about it, the challenges they encountered, and what they learned along the way.

Alex Kipp (Executive Producer, Writer, Toby Morton) acts, writes, and directs. Before moving to New York eleven years ago, Alex studied theatre at the University of Kansas as well as Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq. He is a member of Mad Men of the Mountain collective and a frequent collaborator with the Ireland-based theatre company, Mangiare. Currently he is collaborating with playwright Harold Lehmann on an original work about the second coming of George Washington (a comedy, he hopes.) He is also a featured blogger for the New York Clown Theatre Festival. He is an MFA candidate in Television Writing and Production at Long Island University.

Robert Weinstein (Executive Producer, Writer, Alan Weinstein) studied theatre at the University of Kansas, Ecole International du Theatre Jacques Lecoq and Kiklos Scuola Internazionale di Creazione Teatrale (Padova, Italy). He worked in Ireland with Theatre Lumiere in a touring production of W.B. Yeats' Dreaming of the Bones; and he produced, co-directed and performed with Mutantitanti Compagnanti in a touring production of A Night on the Clown, in northern Italy. Since moving to New York City eleven years ago, Robert has worked with several theatre companies, He is a founding member of the theatre collective Madmen of the Mountain and performed in their inaugural production, Gus and Fred Smash the TV and wrote, produced and performed in Atriptick for Ghostsat the Melbourne Fringe Festival in Melbourne, Australia. He is a frequent contributor to nytheatre.com. Robert is also a featured improvisor at the Magnet Theater.

FILM+VIDEO SHOW & TELL provides a forum for local and independent filmmakers and video artists to share and discuss their work and ideas. Each month we'll screen one or more works and then circle up for an intimate conversation with the artists or guest speaker. We'll focus on "art" films, both abstract and and narrative, primarily by local filmmakers but with a mix of hard-to-find foreign classics, and new documentaries.

This group is open to and for both film lovers and film/video artists. In fact, we really want you guys to bring films (your own or work by others that you want to support) to us that you would like us to screen.
