  • Hey everyone, I just want to clarify some things! Here at AP, we learn mostly Meisner, but we do learn other techniques. We are strongly encouraged and trained to use our imaginations to get to emotional places because we don't want to get fucked up by remembering sad memories from our past. "Commit to the imaginary circumstances of the moment" just means to believe what is said is happening is actually happening; Commit to it, just give in and trust yourself and your partner that these

  • circumstances are actually real, even though they are completely made up, and stay in the moment. Try not to be in your head and plan what you are going to do next.

  • @Vacheron123 it means, how fully you believe what you are talking about and listening to in your scene. Just like a child playing make believe, there is no part of that child that does not believe the world they create in their mind. Simple, specific and honest.

  • @legatofancier - Remember, you can't copy Stanislavksi 100% because he was a 19th century Russian and we are 21st century Americans. Stanislavski declined to train Jacques Copeau & Max Reinhardt's actors for basically the same reason. French & German actors were not likely to learn in precisely the same way that Russian actors learned. What matters is to experience the fundamental principles.

  • @heavyrocker32 - In addition to studying with Sanford Meisner, I also studied with Robert Lewis - Bobby Lewis. He pointed out in the chart of The Stanislavki System that Stella Adler made after she studied with Stanislavki in Paris in 1934 (which Bobby reproduced in his book METHOD OR MADNESS). He said that no single teacher teaches all of The Stanislavski System. Read Jean Benedetti's new translation of THE ACTOR'S WORK and if you want to better understand Stanislavski.

  • Short? I dont get it.... btw this is Sammy Jo

  • im a muppet that big shpeal below was meant for this post about stanislavski being a better option than meisner
