Great stuff Mr. Cob! Really enjoying your Europe trip over on ADV.

the only thing keeping me from getting one of these currently is the old reputation for lack of reliability. i know its improved quite a bit but by how much. would i be able to go 2,000 miles before needed some work? or am i gonna be stopping at every ural dealer to fix the thing.

In Oregon that log would be called a toothpick.

Howdy choopdewoot,
In the last five years I have accumulated well over 90,000 klicks thats close to 60,000 miles on my Urals, In that time I have broken just about everything that can be broken but it is part of my deal with Ural, I am an unofficial test rider for them and have pushed these rigs far BEYOND what they were ever designed to do . Go over to the ADV-Rider, web site and read the MANY ride reports I have posted over the years and I think you will see how the reliability has improved.

Howdy Ukatech,
Well in Washington we also call such a small diameter log a toothpick, it wasn't the size of the log it was how it was half buried and the angle it was at in relationship to the down slope on the trail that caused the rig to become stuck. Watch the video again and note how it was the drive wheel digging in behind the log that caused it get stuck not the size of the log itself.

Howdy gravedigr23,
This video was shot just past the gate on Russian road years ago it is no longer possible to ride in this area thanks to the tree huggers and those who dump their garbage in the forest.
