@rogerstill71 Fess didn't right this, Ahmet Ertegun wrote it, then Ray (who was the first to record it) took the main riff from Jelly Roll Morton's "New Orleans Blues"

i am one of the doctors biggest fans and had the chance to meet him in boulder,colorado when i worked for capitol records and a friend from warner brothers to me back stage to meet him.i played his stuff when i was a dj in atlanta and other cities. he is amazing.randy robins

It's just oozing out of the doc, he rolls in there, no bullshit, sits at the piano and just blows the audience out of it with pure talent!!!

Dr John's band in Monteux that year was the best I've seen .Everyone complements the other (the mess around) beginning with the horn section ('specially the baritone sax),base guitar ,drums etc,and of course the great Dr John,

Saw this in concert and reminded me of dancing in the aisles, love that the band complimented the Dr and did not hide his piano skills.

I love the New Orleans dirty dozens band feel that it has. Excellent song.
