  • Sri Radhe!

Do you perhaps have more of this recording? I mean longer version or is this all that was recorded?

    Thank you

  • Hare Krishna!, no i dont have :(, it just was made with mobile.

  • hari Bol!! he didn`t learn from anyone! I met him at a train station and he told me that mrdanga its like the Srimad Bhagavatam, you learn it just by hearing and practicing. It is amazing how he improvises and the mantras just seem to flow, like getting new ideas all the time.

  • Yes that is true,! and he have reason, Gopal is the best ejemple of play mrdanga with heart. Not mantras not masters,... directely from Paratmatma.

  • Gopal is from England, he live long time in Vrindavan doing the great service playing for Aindra Prabhu.

  • I am a professional tabla, mridanga, and pakhawaj player, so I do understand taal and speed. Only for a certain few seconds does this player go a tiny bit faster than then the beat calls for. Regardless, your right, it is nice to see. However, remember that this isn't a performance like you stated, its meant to be in the service of the Radhe Shayam.

Also: Mridanga can be written in several ways. Mridanga, Mrudanga, Mrdanga. For example, the mridangam is also called "mrudangam".

  • But again mood is more important so, if u have the mood in service of krsna then the mantra can take a back seat, but the mantra is still important, so its best to try and reach that level as much as u can

  • so even if u have the chance to learn te re khe ta from a guru properly it is useful to grab that chance. and try to keep speculative beats as minimal as possible. Krsna has the most refined tastes, and the sastras and mantras direct us to keep up with that refined taste, so playing out of that is very disturbing and not pleasing to krsna.

  • But that example should not be followed by everyone. if u have no means of learning then mood alone is sufficient to play the mridanga, but it is very important to accept a guru and learn even a little bit of mridanga before you start. other it is very offensive. yes srimad bhagavatam is learnt by hearing, but more importantly it is spoken by an authorized guru.

  • thats very true, he is an amazing player and what makes him special is he is able to understand the mood of the singer and play along with it. it mridanga, the mood is the most important then comes wether u can play it well or not. gopal under the guidance of aindra prabhu has had very good training on that.

  • all the really good mridanga players iv met, didnt learn from anyone, they said they just learned from hearing and practicing, they would just sit in the kirtan, and by hearing others play, and praticing themselves they'd learn, and over the years they'd get very good

  • wow this is trippy to watch and hear!

  • he is so good. i would love to learn new things from him. i m not that good but watching him play makes me learn new skills.

  • I wish i could play like that!!!!!!!!!!

  • YEAH!!
