Proto5 was taken the UAV section of AMES runway, for first pattern fligths in conditions. We have a 4MPH wind from the NW, perfectly aligned with the runway.
Pilot Mike tested yaw control and authority under these windy conditions.
also proceeded with simple patterns at increasing speeds.
Flight response was very satisfactory with lots of stability and control authority.
The on-board camera is a big shaky, being mounted at the very top of the vertical stab, which was not stiff enough. to be improved for next videos.

  • how long till we can mount an M16 on it?

  • Wow, that's really stable!

  • not as stylish as the verticopter but potentially more practical, cant wait to see a larger scale version
