Many Mediterranean bays in Greece are falling victim to poorly-processed waste water. Cesspool have spilled over into ecologically sensitive coastal areas. The mayor of Elefsina is outraged at the government in Athens, which seems to just look on as shores are fouled and tourists flee. And he's getting support from the EU commission, which is threatening to recall subsidies if processing facilities and sewers aren't built.

  • This is a good measure. I support the mayor's initiative. If they don't hear you from the central (national) government you should address the matter in the EU.

I only hope that fines are not simply slaps on the wrist, otherwise governments will simply ignore them.

  • Greece is a beautiful country; not for long. Like the video mentions, the ecology is important! The world is turning into a wasteland - acidity in water is going up, problems with polution...LOOK AT CHINA! Next generation mutants will surely come from there!
