Torque Game Engine - Ruin Online BETA5 movie 1/2

BETA5 "Movie" Part 1 of 2. We had an in-house test session last weekend, getting some new features ready for patching out to the beta client. We had too much fun with parachutes, jetpacks (not shown) and dual-wielding pistols! Our test session quickly decayed into a video capture session. 10hrs and 28gigs later we finished up at 6am and cut a feature demo video, focusing primarily on new features, like the ones mentioned above.

The battlemech in the vid is drivable but that was not shown (working a few bugs out).

There is a part 2 to this vid which shows some vehicular action, but just a bit.

There are about 280 buildings (interiors) in the zone shown in this video. Performance was great on my 2 year old Dell while I hosted multiplayer (not dedicated), video-captured, and played.

Well done! I wish I could figure out the hand-to-hand combat methodolgy in Torque -- looks like you have mastered it. The game you have seems to be future-based and I think you should give the characters metal-wings or something to give it a fantasy touch IMO.

Thanks for the comment. Some of the armor, battlesuits and even the jetpacks would look PRETTY COOL with metal wings, good idea.

There is room for improvements ;) The game really looks crappy and rough in the beginning and when they run around but i think that when they begin the close combat fighting it gets far more smooth and gets very interesting ;) with a little more smoothness this game will be great

I think people really need to remember this is a independent team, Not a multi-billion dollar company with hundreds of staff getting paid, Aswell as the fact is an early Prototype/Beta.

I don't know if it's just my computer or what. But every time I go to make a character in this game it says the connection timer timed out er some thing. It's a real pain in the ass!!!!!!
