Bruce Downey took over a troubled generic drug company and infused it with a high-risk approach: produce generic drugs with significant barriers to entry and investment needed. If it was off-patent, the raw materials were unavailable, or was unsalable for any number of reasons, Bruce pushed Barr Pharmaceuticals to pursue it. The results were a leadership position in a highly focused brand and generic market of cardiovascular, oncology and female health care products.
