Amtrak engine was working, the ACe was used to power 774 because 455 died again (It's currently their least reliable engine, I don't know why they insist on sending it on the longest runs), 775 was just the means of getting it back up to SLO.

WOW that is quite strange, sounds like the amtrak engine was cut out and the ACe was pushing.
