Katrina is activated right side Advanced Bionics cochlear implant in Logan, UT by Cache Pitt. Katrina had a progressive hearing loss that was discovered when she was 18 months old. It was moderate at the time. It progressed to Severe-Profound by age 5. She was implanted at age 5 years, 5 months.

@Nicolelam4Tweety - I totally agree. It's why I always hate it when I see really young babies scream in pain from the loudness at first, instead of the sensible 'soft' sounds that should be first.

I always hated when they did that to me. I think audiologist need to start with soft sounds not some loud shocking BOOMS and BANGS! It's a shock to our ears, especially if we've never heard before. I became deaf at the age of 12 and knew sound, but I hated when i was first turned on with my CI and the audiologist would make LOUD noises to see if I could hear it. Of course I could hear it but I had to ignore it to keep from throwing my implant at them.

I live in Ogden and my three year old boy is about to have his implants activated in a little over a week. We're pretty excited, but we know we need to be patient as well. Does your daughter attend the USDB here in Ogden? Our boy just went to his first preschool class there this last week.
