Full Text Guide below:

Document is intended to demonstrate use of the tracer dart homing device in conjunction with either the RPG or the Carl Gustav explosive ordanance.

Target audience are prior users of said weapons intending to gain basic knowledge or expand upon existing knowledge in order to improve effectiveness and success.

Field Guide: Tracer Dart + RPG/CG
.: In Summary :.

DARTING:
1.) Hit the target with the
Tracer Dart:

2.) Darts are SLOW. Lead
moving targets. This requires
practice.

3.) Once hit, the dart last for
45 Seconds.

4.) Darts can be cancelled by
an ememy vehicles using the
countermeasure upgrade.
Smoke in Tanks, and flares in
Choppers. In addition, infantry
smoke also blocks them.

5.) Darts ONLY work with RPG
and Carl Gustav.

6.) Rounds will home into
location where dart is
attached, so sides and rear
are best, but see firing notes.

LOCKON::
7.) Zoom in on the target, you
will see a small flashing box
on the target.

8.) Hold the centre of the
reticle on the box. After a few
seconds this will show some
numbers. You are now
LOCKED.

9.) Countermeasures can
prevent lock. See above.

FIRING::
10.) When firing, bear in mind
a few things below.

11.) The missile will initially
fire out in whatever direction
you point it, then LOCK ON,
and fly direct to the target. If
there are any obstacles
between this point and the
target, the missile will hit the
obstacle, NOT the target.

12.) You will need to bear in
mind and obstacles between
you and the target, and fire
appropriately to give the
missile the best chance of
hitting. Again, practice.

13.) For choppers, it is often
better to fire AWAY from the
chopper, to give the missile
time to lock and home in.
Otherwise you can get
overshoot and the missile has
to recover the turn and burns
out.

BEST PRACTICES::
14.) Best practices is another
word for mediocre. But....

15.) Darting is a social event.

16.) It works best in squads
or with at least two people.

17.) Quickest way to get
rounds down target is for one
to dart and the other to be
ready with the targeting on
the RPG/CG.

18.) With more darting
players, you increase the
chance of a successful dart.

19.) This is also useful when
darting past countermeasures,
where you can land a second
dart after they have deployed
countermeasures.

19.) More players firing
missiles will elimante targets
rapidly, before they have the
chance to evade, repair or
countermeasure.

20.) This instructional was
brought to you by Babylon at

watching.

  • Great! Knowing all this just makes battlefield much more interesting to play, unlike mw2 when you learn everything in 2 days, it takes more time to "master" bfbc2

  • @Legoweapond Yeah. BFBC2 is a good game especially considering its limited console origins.

Sadly I feel BF3 has also been designed as a console limited game and has suffered as a result. I actually think in many ways BFBC2 is a better made game -

  • What level or what class unlocks it???

  • @Dash100555 Rank 11 I believe - I could be wrong But Sorry - thats just a plain fucking lazy question in this day of search browsers. if you can use You tube, you can use a search engine and look it up yourself. :D

  • @Dash100555 Here's a good tip; for games that are as big as the Battlefield series (like TF2) there are wikis for everything. If you have a question, you can probably find a helpful and concrete answer there, as opposed to varying opinions from Youtube. I'm not trying to be condescending or anything, I do it all the time and it works really well).

  • @GallowsComedian This is true - but they dont illustrate things like this as well. For example, how to direct the rocket after lock on to avoid scenery etc. You would probably need a page of text and 10 minutes to read and digest that in what can be shown in a 30 sec vid. ...and even then you may not be entirely clear until you try it out a few times.

A vid gives you instant demonstration. Showing is a more natural way of learning which is why vid instructionals are so good

  • @BabylonWhore666 Yeah, but he was asking what level it gets unlocked at. You can find that out on a wiki. Also, wikis usually do have video guides on the page, so if you need to watch a video, you can almost always count on there being one available.

  • @gimmieYOdogtag and accordingly, 1 less excited than viewer 410.
