Indeed the first line-up played some tunes from their forthcoming album they did with Bozzio, like: The Only Thing She Needs and Carrying No Cross. It sounds obvious they were trying out their sound on this one but never developed as a quartet.
so that's Bruford on drums and NOT bozzio? The snare does sound like Bill's. And Allan too. I didn't know they were ever part of this song. Great tune with a cheesy chorus.
@AAI280665: Indeed Holdsworth was out of the band when this song was released on the band's second album BUT he's playing on this version.... listen starting at 1:46. He's laying back/laying out more than he is playing (or 'mooing') but he's here!
I agree - both line-ups brilliant. "Thirty years" I've been listening to their music and still nothing surpasses it. Great to now find all these versions on Youtube.
Well i must say i liked boath line ups,UK minus guitar was very high energy much more of a Rock vibe when down to 3. Bill is great but at times can be a noise maker, and kill the power.Bozzio is much more of a Rocker, and speed player with powerful accent points Bru tends to lean more to a advant Guarde style..AS far as my take.. one is not better than the other, it comes down to what do you want to hear.Being a Progressive Pro Drummer myself i find interest in boath..
there is many shows of the 2nd album's songs with
the real members.
there is the album 'live in boston' which is amazing.

@jonsilence Sorry, but Holdsworth had already left the band when the album Danger Money (which includes Caesar's Palace Blues) was released.
