My issue with the word and when other use it especially whites is that I don't use it and I am black, I am just not fan of the word. There is too many emotions behind the word in general. Just because people decided to over use it doesn't make it hurt any less when someone calls you a nigger. Growing up in white communities I have been called that more then once. So I don't think anyone should say it.
