Alex & Allyson Grey's live painting tribute to Jimi Hendrix on what would have been his 68th birthday. Someone who truly deserves some honor in my estimation. My favorite guitarist. Alex Grey is my favorite living artist, so there was no way that I was going to miss this. Allyson Grey and Burgandy Viscosi's paintings were incredible as well. S.I.D. did a great, trippy mix of video of Hendrix. Dawoud did an incredible sitar rendition of Third Stone from the Sun.
Have been wanting to go to The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, or one of their events, for a while too. Great fit. Made some new friends, everyone was beyond welcoming and of the same spirit. Great atmosphere. Definitely worth the trip up from Georgia. Jimi would have thought it groovy & out of sight.
Could have used more variety of Jimi songs & a few more straight up, without as much of the remix, but hey - I guess you gotta roll with the times. As long as people are still recognizing what a mad genius James Marshall Hendrix was and is, I don't mind. Perfect night...
Only had my iphone 3g with me, so this is kind of taking some lemons and making lemonade...lol It was an incredible night. Not one to make a boring slideshow out of. It is long, but I could have made it a lot longer - hard for me to just pick a couple of Jimi's songs. Hope you enjoy...
