Tax to cover infrastructure is OK and I think most Canadians would and do accept that. When Canadians consider it almost a right of passage or a gem to find a cash job it doesn't reflect on Canadians being evil, greedy or immoral like the drug dealers, it reflects the tax burden being far to great.
If we are to pay the tax we are expected how about a detailed statement of dollar for dollar where my money went. The CRA will not do this for obvious and insidious reasons.
RIP Joe Stack.

@begirlinc (4) oh yeah if you couldnt tell i was being completely sarcastic. EVERYONE THAT READS THIS GOOGLE "CRA IRVIN LEROUX" and "CRA ELI HUMBY" as canadians you have a right to know what the government can do to you and your family even if they were the ones that made a mistake. I just hope my dad's case will resolve before the 3 year mark, as im growing weary of working 40-50 hours a week just to have the privilege of surviving with the bare minimum in this country :( and i miss univerisity

@begirlinc (3) up a minimum paying job to support my family (keep in mind im 19 years old) since my father has all cheques made out to him immediately frozen by the government . Thanks CRA for forcing me to drop out of university and work minimum wage over a tax mistake of 5,000 for 3 consecutive years!! No, this is definitely not "a violation human rights" i totally support the government in destroying the livelihood of our entire family and freezing 5mil of assets for 15k, its totally fair!!
-
@begirlinc (2) over $4million, and effectively destroyed my household. My father paid the $15K back immediately about.. oh 9 months ago yet his livelihood is completely ruined as the 2 year mark since the audit began is coming up and even though the CRA has been paid in full my father still has all his assets frozen. Thanks to the CRA, i couldnt continue to attend university because my father's income dropped to 0 :D As well, since we have no money we barely eat these days. I had to take

@begirlinc (1) Hey let me tell you my story :D my dad got audited for the previous 3 tax years and it turns out he made mistakes on income taxes. Although he pays well over $50G each yeah in income tax his misunderstanding of the the tax act caused him to leave out a section of his income. He went to court, and the court ruling was that for each of these years he should have paid an extra $5G in taxes. So the CRA froze his RRSPs, All bank accounts, put liens on properties collectively worth

If the Government would stop stuffing their friends pocket with money there would be more money. The big 3 get bailout money, E Health is a scam yet people get pockets stuffed with money. Politicians asking for 25% raises yet tells all the citizens to stop spending. Having $90 million for security yet not enough money for road repairs. Not having electric cars. Going to 5 star restaurants and parties costing $100 a plate. Politicians work 8 yrs to get a pension. This is like UNDERGROUND.

propaganda. Communists and socialists like you will be rooted out very soon.

@MrSmith1002 It totally sucks that people commiting worse crimes than tax evasion can get only a slap on the hand. Unfortunately, this world revolves around money. Without money, one cannot survive. It is sad to say the least.

@begirlinc Tax evasion is against the law but as the saying goes. When injustice becomes the law, rebellion becomes duty. I have yet to file this year and most likely will not file. Its odd, a first time assault or even rape may only land you probation or weekend jail sentences yet, tax evasion will undeniably and always land you in prison. Shows priorities. Vehicle registration stickers are 80$, the penalty for not being able to afford them on time, 150$, once again shows priorities. MONEY!
This commercial is against human rights.
and realy lacks any substancial information.
INCOME TAX IS VOLUNTARY

@canadastreetmedia
I agree, this video is propoganda.
Complete crap designed to scare people into believing that if they don't "comply" they are bad and will be "punished" by the good guys, which is
BULLSHIT!
99% of the population has no clue as to the real meaning of the Income Tax Act because it is incredibly difficult for the average man to understand and he doesn't have time to go to university to learn it cuz he's busy raising a family.

@angryadrien The video was not meant to be propoganda or to scare people. We are just stating that tax evasion is a criminal act under the Canadian law. We were trying show the consequences that one would face if he/she evaded his/her taxes. We agree that the Income Tax Act can be confusing and too difficult to understand. We understand that, especially at the current economic state, it is difficult to raise a family. Personally, we are not against or for the CRA or the underground economy.

@canadastreetmedia As far as I know, according to the Canadian law, income tax is not voluntary, as you can go to jail for not paying it. Don't you think that it is a bit extreme to say that the video is against human rights? The video was produced for a contest held by the Canadian Revenue Agency. (Sorry, my post was too long for youtube to post together)
