I was walking down the street in Downtown Bangor and found the police were blocking off the intersection before I walked across the road. I wondered what was happening. Seconds later, I looked up Hammond St and discovered this truck with a massive load coming down the hill and proceeded to go up the State Street hill. Someone told me it was a turbine for a windmill. It could have been a hydroelectric turbine, but I don't know. Anyway, enjoy. :) Recorded May 14, 2009.
I remember when those came through.. They went right by my house.. I live literally a quarter mile from where that was filmed.. On Hammond and Union.

You can hear someone who is informed, coment about it not being allowed on the interstate. The people of northern Maine need to contact Olimpia Snowe about this, she got it change temprarilly last year but it was declined this year by washington, who have no idea what they have done. This isn't safe for small towns, it's logging trucks too that will be running day and night. Yes it is a wind tower tube, just one section.

As of Monday the 27th of Dec 2010 this is what we will be doing again with heavy equipment, wind towers and any heavy load. They will be running in all the small towns through northern Maine. WHY? Because the federal government nor the mothers against tired truckers wants us using the interstate highway. YES thats right, there is an interstate highway running right through Bangor Maine north to where he is probably going. Try this with a lowboy and 3.5 inches of clearance.

I live in the Bangor area, and I saw that load being hauled and heard it was for the foundation of a parking lot for Eastern Maine Medical Center (garage under construction at the time).
I could be wrong, but it doesn't make any sense for it to be going straight through downtown off Hammond St. (directly towards the Medical Center) if it was coming from Quebec.
