SONG OF HOPE NEEDS EXTRA INGREDIENT
Tui Award-winning songwriter Ric Knott (Magnify Band) is aiming to get 1000 people into Wellington's Frank Kitts Park tomorrow (Friday 11th March) to add the finishing touch to the song he has recorded for the people of Christchurch.
The song, 'Morning Light' is an anthem penned to encourage those living in the aftermath of last month's earthquake to remember the lost and 'let hope rise'.
Like many musicians, Ric was deeply moved by the images of devastation that
beamed out in the hours and days following the quake, and was moved to do the only thing he could. So in the small hours of February 23rd, 'Morning Light' was written. Ric then joined forces with Geoff Duncan at Vertical Studios to record the song, which is now at the final mix stage.
"We wanted the song to be an inspiration to all those who were hurting and needed a lift, a reason to keep going... we thought adding the voices of the people of Wellington would be the perfect way to say 'We're in this together, we share your pain, we're here for you'."
Once the voices have been added to the mix, the song will be available for download by donation, hopefully through one or more of the disaster relief websites.
Ric, a NZ Music Award winner for Magnify Band's 'In Wonder' album (2004) is a well known gospel songwriter, whose songs have been recorded by the Parachute Band and Newsboys, along with having now produced three albums with Magnify. He is also a Pastor at Wellington's Elim International Church.
Friday's recording in Civic Square will take place from 12-1pm

Heres the lyrics...
Let hope rise, rise in you
Flood your heavy soul
Let hope rise,
We will rebuild this place once torn apart
Let hope rise, rise in you
Fill with morning light
