I said I love you to my best friend.

I don't know what's worse, that my 'best friend' is a cactus or that it rebuked my affection.

I find it hardest of all to tell my family that I love them, I haven't heard my mother say she loves me without prompting since I was 5, and I don't ever remember my father telling me that. My brother and sister are even harder to say it to, as I have never heard it from them either. My family isn't terribly wordy about our emotions, we all know we love each other and consider that enough. This Esther day I'm going to use words.

I find that saying i love you to a friend is easy but when i say it to a family member it somehow has a deeper meaning therefore harder to say

Who is it hard to say "I love you" to? Everyone. Except for my mom, my dog and my grandma when she was still alive. I used to say it to my dad, but then he just called me a liar, so I stopped doing it. Same with my sisters... Which is sad but then what are you supposed to do when they don't really care how you feel? (It's not a good thing to share feelings in my family, particularly with my dad which may be the reason I have such a hard time expressing them now.)
