  • Great videos and great playing... you cover all my favorite songs. Its hard to find demo's of these basses playing the music I play myself. Thank you.

Quick question on this P-bass, can you get a good smooth/dark Jamerson tone from it too when's the tone's rolled all the way down?

    Thanks

  • @jgk381 Yes, you can get a darker, warmer tone if you roll the tone down. If you want to get really close to Jamerson's tone, you can try flatwound strings.

  • awesome playing man! great tone too! what EQ settings did you use to get this kinda tone?

  • @dspugs I am playing through a Fender Bassman 250/210 Combo Amp, with the bass and mids boosted about halfway and treble set flat. On the bass, my volume is up full, and the tone is up about 75%.

  • You mention modifications on your squier, wich ones? I am planning on buying a bass this summer ( I am already a guitar player).

Should i go for the fender or the squier? I wish to play funky stuff (smooth bass lines like those on your video, great playing by the way) but i'd also like to play some rage against the machine and some metal, i was wondering if that bass was versatile...

  • This bass comes with a Duncan Designed P-Bass pickup from the factory. That's where the "vintage modified" description comes from. I haven't made any modifications to it. When choosing a bass, it depends on the kind of tone you like. The Fender Precision is great for classic R&B and rock, or anything that calls for a deep, fat bass tone. The Fender Jazz Bass has a brighter tone, and is well suited for R&B, Jazz & Funk. You have to decide what sounds best to your ears.
