There is a good chance that the United States will adopt limits on emissions of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide. With the current political momentum behind market approaches like cap and trade, how will these carbon pricing policies impact jobs? Join David Foster, Blue Green Alliance; Vivian Buckingham; and Ceres Virgil Welch, California Air Resources Board for a discussion on what the future holds.

  • thank u

  • @CrazYSeriouS No profit? Ever heard of carbon tax?

  • I don't understand why it's hard to believe that our actions actually can affect our environment. We aren't claiming to be GOD by admitting this; we're simply owning up to our mistakes. And as for saying the "Climategate" renders everything false, don't governments and media do the same thing by selectively taking things out of context and use scare tactics to make people believe in things? Anyway, why are people so against fighting climate change? Is it because there's no profit, like Iraq?

  • Cap and trade and global warming are now officially dead after the recent hacked email scandal from the CRU and many of its higher ups.

  • climate has been changing since GOD made this blue marble-

it will continue to change -

it is pure folly to believe human beings have the power to "change the climate of this planet-

But some "humanists" will pound their fist and insist there is no God & we can "control" the forces of the universe...

    This is pure insanity -

    Not Science -

Study Entropy you will understand thermodynamics applies to even the weather - with or without "man' being involved

  • But since before the 50's CO2 has been more or less on a straight line climb (say 315 to 380ppm) But temps have not followed in step.

This is Fact - see any temp graph.

  • You are also wrong when you claim that temperature has not risen with CO2. It has, and it does today.

  • The total energy reaching the planet from the sun has not changed significantly.

What has changed is the amount of energy being trapped and retained in the lower atmosphere.

The upper troposhere is actually cooling at a rate which would be expected by a greenhouse effect where CO2 levels are increasing in the lower troposphere.

  • Luckily, WE KNOW THOSE RATIOS of common poisons and you are right in your post.

But since before the 50's CO2 has been more or less on a straight line climb (say 315 to 380ppm) But temps have not followed in step.

Ask a physics prof how much energy is needed to raise the Earth's temp by 1 degree? (and that does happen and continues to happen)

the BIG question I am asking is can changing CO2 levels by about 100ppm make that type of TOTAL ENERGY change on the entire planet?

  • You are wrong.

Your apparent argument is that since CO2 is such a small constituent of the atmosphere, that it could not possibly have any significant effect. This is fallacious.

Many toxins will kill you if ingested in fractions of grams. That is parts per hundred thousand when compared to the mass of your average human.

By your reasoning, nothing so miniscule should bother something as huge as a human.

Fortunately, climate science has evidence; not incredulity.
