This location is my first attempt at catching beaver. I'm uploading this video to try and get advice from experienced beaver trappers. Where is the feed pile? The hut? How should I trap this location besides the obvious location where they're exiting the water?

  • that would be a easy set

  • @TheWildNorth Unfortunately I fell and busted a leg before I was able to take any beaver out of here. I did connect with a really nice female otter, though!

  • If you can't find where they are living just use a baited set. Green wood under the ice with snares or connibears will get em if they swim by it.

  • @flyfysher69 Thanks. I busted a leg and had to end my first year trapping a little early. I will get out there early again this year and figure out where their bank den is located.

  • I have found in the past what works for me when there is no visible den entrances find runs where they are coming up on the bank and cutting acrossed it. On these trails you can make a simple landset or blind set using a # 4 or 5 foot hold trap this will not get you all the beavers using that den but should help you atleast get rid of a couple of them also patience is important i have had these sets out for 4 to 5 days before i got anything. good luck

  • @portofhueneme Ahh!! Bored I see? How about you and your activist fur group of freinds take turns bending over and spanking each others asses for being hippicrits because your mothers, daddys, granpapies and grandmothers all use to wear fur at one time such as gloves, coats, boots, and hats at one time. So go get fucked and quit bothering people you "Beefeater" and I don't mean cow dick breath.

  • I trap beaver in extremely shallow water with 2-3 feet of ice in interior Alaska. Ice is too thick to find runs. I use the birch pole sets exclusively.

  • if you are setting for the run going onto the bank (not a bank den) you should have the 330 an in or two under the water than place a stick acros the top obove the trap to make them dive into it. i have neaver seen beaver cutting trees during the winter but thats what i do in the fall
