At first I scoffed at the whole "no head blows" thing, but then I was like, "yeah, I'm down with it". You can whip some ass (or get your ass whooped) on a saturday and be right back at work in a suit on monday.

@socalpankration There is a Pankration school near me I was thinking of joining, and at first I was concerned about no head contact. But after thinking about how many people get brain damage and even can die from repeated blows to the head, maybe it isn't such a bad thing. It would be nice if they at least teach defense against strikes to the head.

this is real pain...

this is awesome

I completely agree. If you don't plan on becoming a pro fighter you'll probably have more fun training Pankration than MMA. I also think it is at least as effective for self defence as other grappling arts.

It's more fun to train Pankration than MMA because you can go all out in practice.

I like the direction Pankration has taken in the US. It's like amatuer MMA or a more exciting form of wrestling with punches and kicks.
In Greece Pankration is all about wacky nationalism and LARPing in togas. Probably because full contact sports aren't very popular like in the US.

@JOHNNYwxw Greece belongs to Balkans, i'm sure you would have known it if you attended you geography class.
