Written by John Lennon, and inspired by Syd Barret, probably two of the most interesting minds of their time. If they were ever to write a song together, this would be it. However, those present during the recording session deny the presence of Syd Barret, although his influence on the song seems to be great. This song was never released until 1996 in the Beatles Anthology 3.

@tarantulatook It is true. John was basically lying down with a mic on a chair and playing random notes on the piano and making moaning noises. I assume it was a mellotron organ because you can hear some accordion like music at some parts.
Sad because the only person alive that was part of this recording is Yoko Ono.

Growing up, my buddy's dad had this song and a bunch of others on cassette tapes long before the anthologies were released... other songs I can remember were an early beatles songs medley and talking with some interviewer and the interviewer and john began singing yer blues together then the song kicked in. I'm going to have to try and find those tapes next time I go to his house and post them on here.

John is moaning throughout the entire song because he was high on heroin at the time of recording.

If you go to the Pink Floyd Discography/Archive list on the web it does mention this song under Syd Barrett non-LP material. Not sure how reliable the info is, but there is a whole lot of it on that web page.
