http://www.squidoo.com/numberonesongsof1969videoshowcase Their number one song from 1969 and into 1970. This song was number one for one week. In this song, Johnny Bristol was harmonizing with Diana to help her with the song. They decided to use the track as is. The background vocals are not of Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong but rather it is with Maxine and Julia Waters.
@5BronxExp check out the performance after this song on the same show just type in The Supremes at the Hollywood palace Love child and you can see the whole performance .
@5BronxExp I saw the complete video and before they sang love child and had a children on stage and that is how she looked but with more excitement .She was asked about that performance in 1980 and she said she was not high or drunk but tired from touring on the Supremes farewell tour that year and the Hollywood Palace was the stop on the tour .
There were so many Supremes singing behind Diana during their biggest years. Flo and Mary were often added to or replaced by others as early as 1963. They aren't even on the entire Christmas album, barely on I Hear A Symphony, not on #1's like Stop, Love Child and Someday plus Flo isn't on You Can't Hurry love. One of Mary's lies in her book was that Motown "began" using other bg singers after Flo left to get the public used to Diana's voice alone. The truth is, Mary and Flo always were iffy.
This was my late husbands favourite song, he loved Cindy, this song was played at his funeral and as I personally know Cindy she sent a beautiful Eulogy to be read out at his funeral which it was, I will never forget her kindness during that sad time of my life 2 years ago, she was amazing and helped me cope with his death, thanks Cindy I love you much and you will always be a special friend to me, xx
