About Women Without Men
The Walker first exhibited New Yorkbased Shirin Neshats work in 1998—the same year she won the Venice Biennales prestigious Golden Lion prize for her video pieces. Her first major U.S. solo exhibition was presented here in 2002. She returns with her feature film debut, an adaptation of the novel by exiled Iranian writer Shahrnush Parsipur. Set in Iran during its infamous 1953 CIA-backed coup, the film follows four women from different social classes as they take refuge in a metaphorical orchard. Through striking visuals and magic realism, Neshat plumbs the depths of their personal tragedies. Filmed in haunting muted hues, the womens individual journeys are compelling, and the broader themes of the tensions between religion and secularism and between tradition and modernity have never felt more relevant (British Film Institute). Selected for the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and winner of the 2009 Venice Film Festival Silver Lion. 2009, 35mm, 95 minutes.

Well this is an interesting discussion, but you will find that patriarchy and matriarchy are simply different polarities, both of them exist, therefore perhaps it is important that both of them are synthesized and utilised to co-operate rather than fight amongst each other. Like day and night, male and female, sun and water. There is so much we do not know about the world.

It's not just any men that women have a problem with, like good looking men who have alot of things to them,money, and looks, and power, women love them. This issue is between women vs bald men, because those are the groups apparently at war. Many women I heard would ''erradicate'' bald men and even set up certain groups to try to get people to participate. It is bald /ugly looking men that women hate, Thats where all this seems to be based at.Women would be happy if bald men didn't exist.

@ninearthify Why is the fight to liberate women for independence associated with the selfish act of a woman against her family? A child has a right to connect to his/her father and it sounds like that particular woman decided to play God and bar that connection. Why is feminism to blame for this? Women who are not feminists also do these types of things. Failing to recognize the free will of others is the beginning of the problem.Failing to recognize free will of others results in more bondage.

I know a kid who hates his mother because she raised him and never let him see his father. She basically denied him the right to have a father. Not because his father abandoned him or because he passed away, but because the mother wished it to be that way. She's a hardcore feminist. I find it funny how feminists tend to forget that boys will one day be men too. Feminists are completely disconnected from the necessities of men. They only care about themselves.

'matriarchy' is a word in opposition because of 'patriarchy' - however, motherhood is not in opposition to fatherhood. The family needs the heart as much as the head, even when it is a country. Real mothers accept all their children unconditionally, forgive them, want them to be happy rather than important , are patient. Their children profit from love and faith, not possessions. The real mother is not contaminated by consumerism - she is not the opposite but the all-accepting, non-violent
