It's been very, very long since I've updated either Music in the Dark or Sound of Emptiness, and I aim to fix that right now.
So here, have Music in the Dark.
Rosetta are a post-metal band out of Philadelphia with a wall-of-sound approach with lots of emphasis on ambience interspersed with huge, galactic roars, with a distinctly post-rock approach to their instrumentation.
"The Galilean Satellites" is about a guy who, growing dissatisfied with the world around him, leaves Earth to find solace on Europa. However, upon reaching it, he realizes that he left behind things that were meaningful to him.
The album is a two CD set; the first CD works as a standard one-disc album, while the second is a collection of space ambient pieces. The track lengths on both correspond to one another, suggesting that they be played simultaneously. You'll find a lot of Disc 1 tracks and combined tracks on Youtube but very little of Disc 2 by itself, which is a shame.
So here. Have Beta Aquilae. It's the best track in the whole set.
