R8 VIR

I love VIR, and have driven 3 DEs there. I can totally see making that mistake. I feel bad for him. I noticed he isn't shifting. Doesn't look like that would be as much fun as a stick.

i can only guess that he lifted just after cresting the hill on turn 7. rookie mistake - we have all done it, but in a mid-engine car, car be really hard to recover. too bad, but the damage was so minimal. more ego bruise than actual mechanical damage.

And yeah, he had to have lifted his foot off the gas. Weight shift over that small bump.

Not too much of damage gladly. Looked like a harder hit than it actually was, thought it'll cost him quite a bit to fix it. Poor bastard.

From this vide I can say vow. He is fast at least on roller coaster. And the car actually doesnt look that bad as I thought. He made mistake but hey in this spot almost every event somebody do the same thing. Best thing is go strait not to try steer bc then you end up like this facing wrong way in tire wall. +1 for great lesson. BTW: I can wait to be back 6 more days

Oh and just so you know, the place where he loses control is a turn where the car actually sort of lifts off the ground, i can feel it at about 125-130 and hes running around 150, AT LEAST.

Have any of you guys actually ever driven this track?!

I have. several times. Maybe not in an R8, but in my 03 svt cobra...there's a large difference I realize, but this track is extremely difficult. there is a TON of elevation change.

I have but it was in the 70s. Did the pace car.

This video is better because at least it shows him driving well throughout the rest of VIR. His lines looked good through most of the lap. But his entry point and early apexes through the esses were just wrong. If he hit his apexes later, but at the same speed, he would've been fine.

I will say it is a very difficult thing to run your own line with another car right in front of you. While the short video gives the impression of a rich boy who can't drive, this one counters that a little...
