Basically this is my first attempt at making anything in final cut, and at uploading anything to youtube for that matter. Really I just made this for shits and giggles and to get my bearings with the program but it's so darn simple that I managed to make something I'm proud of in just a couple of days and of course I figured with this being the day and age of the internet, I should share my little brain fart with the world.

The idea for the video is one that I've kind of always had, at least since I first heard the song. I always visualise production lines, war ships sinking, flares, metal and desolation etc etc when I hear it and I just so happened to stumble upon www.archive.org which just so happens to have thousands of archive videos some of which of contain exactly those kinds of images.

So I tried to sync up the visuals with the beat a fair bit but I also wanted some of those slower feelings of desolation to kind of sit in between by just letting the archive footage play.

Anyway, watch it, enjoy, or not...it might be crap, I like it although I am bias so you tell me :P

  • take a look at que sera by wax tailor, I think you'll appreciate it from the looks of this great video. Cheers! Any tips for starting with Final Cut, I have both the full and current versions of Logic Pro and Final Cut and want to start doing videos

  • @shadypharmacist5 Cheers, I'll check it out. But my advice is to just start making stuff, you learn quickly that way, and search around for help if there's anything you get stuck on. Also learn as many of the basic keyboard shortcuts as you can, they'll make your life so much easier! Once you know the basics it's all quite simple really, the hardest part is just having a good idea/concept in the first place, but if you have one then just try and make it happen.

  • The song represents ancient past, civiliazations unknown, alien technology, etc much better so then the current video IMO. I guess I just think deeper.

  • @TropicalConfederate Sounds like a good idea to me, you should make it.

  • tahts weird cuz since i been listening to this song for YEARS i too have thought of black and white cold war type stuff, mainly like russia war stuff that suited it because of the bassy baratone or whatever you call it, had a russian/black and white war sound

  • @camaroiowaguy23 from the sounds of all the comments I'd say that most people have shared a very similar vision while listening to this song, all credit to Aphex for making such a visual soundscape, I merely took it literally :P.

  • Awesome vid..!..

  • This track reminds me of Jak & Daxter, but I must admit, your Metropolis type video is fucking cool.

  • this is how i visually imagined this soundscape the first time i heard it. Great job! I am sure trent had the same mind frame when this was created.

  • perfect

    tempo..for.....

    .anything.

  • @TropicalConfederate

It's not that deep to consider your own interpretation of something to be the ultimate one and to consider yourself deeper just for having that one. That's egotistical.
