The Hieroglyphic River Cooter Turtle (Pseudemys Concinna Hieroglyphica) is a subspecies of pond slider and highly sought after. River Cooters are a beautiful aquatic turtle, with vibrant coloration, and an indispensable volume of character that is different from one specimen to another.

The Mississippi Map Turtle (Graptemys Kohni) is another beautiful aquatic turtle with dark-brown keel and interconnected pattern of circular markings. Plastron greenish-yellow with highly variable and intricate pattern of dark lines. Yellow crescent-shaped mark behind eyes prevents neck stripes from reaching eye.

When grown the female Hieroglyphic River Cooter and Mississippi Map turtles can be expected to be significantly larger than males with carapace lengths expected to range from 5-13 inches when they reach maturity. Males usually have thicker tails, along with longer claws on the front feet. The cloaca on females is closer to the shell, males having a vent more than halfway toward the tail. The plastron (belly side of shell) is more concave with males, and more convex with females. This allows the female to hold more eggs.

  • where was this at

  • @TheHammyChannel1 ~ This video was filmed at a reptile show held in a hotel near my home. You can always find great deals and a selection of turtles at these shows (just google "reptile show" + "your city/state). The cost to buy a turtle at a show better than online and there is no additional cost for shipping, plus your turtle will not have to go through the stress and heck of being box, shipped and bounced around for a coule of days.

  • how much do little baby turtles like this usually cost at a reptile show?

  • @redo7706 ~ I believe you can always find great deals and a selection at reptiles shows (google it). The cost to buy a turtle at a show better than online and you will find several different turtles in the $10 to $40 range. Plus there is no additional cost for shipping and your new little turtle does not have to go through the stress of being shipped. Can you imagine being put in a box for a couple of days and shipped UPS? I can't!

  • Don't happen to know if they do reptile shows in the uk by any chance ? :)

  • @worldwideLFC -- I do not know if or where they have reptile shows in the UK, but would assume there would be some offered somewhere in your country. Just search the web using google with various searches such as "reptile shows UK" or your specific area and see what you can find.

Thank you for your question and watching my videos. Please subscribe to my channel, and I always subscribe back.
