I love it !!!
I just found inkscape today and was looking for a replacement for flash and this is an excellent tool in my opinion. One of the things I really like is that it exports to png which is a must being a indie game developer. Keep up the great work fellas :)

I think this Tutorial is too complicated & outdated. There are many easier and more flexible tools to create such a animation. The only good thing about Inkscape is that being Opensource. The User Interface sucks and simple graphics are already very slow. Sadly its the only Tool we have on Linux, and thats the only reason why I'm using it :(

So instead of using vector SVG animation we're converting it into Raster PNG's then converting that to flash which may or may not be vector again... I'm sorry but iOS doesn't suport flash, and flash mobile was just killed so this is useless for the mobile market, where as svg animation isn't.

damn. this is so bad. did you know about the animate element of svg or the svg dom?

steps to follow:
1) select first text object, apply path > object to path
2) ungroup, keep selection
3) path > combine
4) repeat for second text object
5) apply interpolation
