there were mannequins in the trenches, and they looked at the mannequins after the shock waves hit, they were all shattered and smashed.

these are army propaganda films, and not very accurate. I doubt many of these guys were able to hop out of their foxhole and walk away that easily. the force of the blast would pick them up and bounce them off the walls of the trenches.

sure, they are inaccurate as you said, but even more brutal experiments involving human being are well known amongst military literature and reports.

consider the blast energy depends from many variables, as the power of the bomb itself, in primis, the point of detonation (the epicenter, et cetera), and obviously the distance of the trenches from the explosion.

@sammie200718 The live soldiers were placed in the trenches next to mannequins. The soldiers were bounced around inside the trenches. After the blast, they looked at the mannequins next to them, and saw that the mannequins were smashed to bits.  I heard an interview the last surviving 'Atomic Soldier' who was in the experiment.
