If CNN is reporting it, it is most definitely some sort of red herring or Psyop. They did this with the BP Oilspill, too. They like to seed conspiracy theories in certain news stories to get people on a wild goose change. If I had to bet on foul play, it was the media exaggerating the Joplin tornado damage with more 'augmented reality' CGI videos.
