These 12 tips are on buying henna powder in a local imports store or market. Please feel free to share your tips.
Tips-
1. Check for a crop date
2. Check for the harvest location
3. Make sure the packaging is sealed
4.Buy from reputable dealer, vendor, or website
5. Stay away from packaging that promises an un-natural henna color like blue, black, purple, green, or yellow.
6. Read the ingredients
7. Check to see if it is sifted
8. If it is specified for hair dye, move on
9. Make sure it is stored properly
10. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is
11. Beware of repackaged henna, and henna that is dyed bright green
12. Watch for sand in your henna powder

i just bought henna powder at the indian market for a dollar 99... the color is fine but the date says best by december 2009. right now is december 2010. is that safe?
ismich96bich 1 year ago
@ismich96bich Henna doesn't spoil like food, so it should be fine. Sometimes we luck out at the Indian market, but it's rare.

Thanks for all the good info. Whats the best mixture for hair? Lemon juice or orange juice. Also should I add oils like olive oil or cococnut oil? Please advise.

@christyluve72 The video that will answer your questions will be uploaded in a few days. For hair, I recommend apple cider vinegar. You could use orange juice, but I think it would leave your hair sticky. Some people use oils, but I do not recommended it because it hinders the henna from staining your hair.
