NEW ORLEANS- Civil rights leaders have converged on New Orleans in response to the NOPD shooting of 22-year-old Adolph Grimes in the early hours of New Year's Day, and they have made calls to establish an independent civilian police review board to handle such matters. In addition, the FBI is involved in the investigation on whether the officers acted appropriately.

Local ministers with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference have set up a hotline for info pertaining to the NOPD shooting of Grimes and other future issues at 504-853-7252 (504-TEL-SCLC).

In a press conference this week in front of grieving family members of Grimes and other civil rights leaders, NAACP President Danatus King warned city leaders that "We're at a tipping point when it comes to race relations in this city," and also cited a long list of racially tinged issues that he felt have gone unresolved.

Raymond Brown, President National Action Network added, "I believe that if this city don't [sic] change, we should call for a city-wide boycott of this city... we demand justice in this matter."

Speculation was also presented at the press conference that Chief Riley was delaying releasing the names of the officers involved because one or more officers may have been involved in prior shootings and the police superintendent was trying to avoid a "firestorm."

Norwood Thompson of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference also expressed that the civil rights community fully supports Riley's investigation no matter what the conclusion may be as long as the results are made public. Riley is expected to meet with the leaders to discuss the issue further.

  • If the people of New Orleans want to keep stuff like this from happening, they need to fire every single police officer, government official, mayor, council, legal council, the entire court house and create a law ... stating that anyone, body, soul, and citizen receiving a paycheck from the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, or any other local gov't entity will be arrest with no less than 35 years in prison for receiving a bribe or knowingly breaking a law at the expense of the citizens.

  • Support for the blacks from IRAN!

  • Let me speak from the Streets. The people in this video are "Enemies of the People" they work for the same administration that they want investigated. That's called HYPOCRISY!!! But no one in public office, or none of the "so-called" revolutionary brothers are on the front lines EXPOSING these negroes. And they continue to hold news conferences, and continue to say GOD is they

source of strength, etc. But in reality, those dead pre$ident$ are the only thing they adhere to. Where's the tape?

  • @Raffles009 (Continued...) If you or someone you know had your rights violated by a cop, then you have the right to present criminal complaints to the grand jury to seek indictmentss against them. The police and DA will always say that a shooting is justified. But if you personally give the grand jury a criminal complaint of murder, with the fact that a man was shot in the back, they will indict. There's a guy named Randy Kelton who's jurisimprudence website has the free documents you need.

  • @Raffles009 I care about your opinion, but your opinion doesn't account for nothing in public unless you pack some power behind it. When the police violate your rights, don't complain to the media and the DA. Don't file complaints with the FBI. They call it 'filing a complaint' because they file it in that container on the side of their desk. You have to exercise your right to personally present complaints to the grand jury to get indictments against those damned killers. You have to be the DA.

  • 4 officers in oakland california were murdered by a black domestic terrorist ! how many black men kill cops in americ vs any other race ! pathetic !

  • same situation in my community a black guy was killed a white women saw the whole thing and of course they didn't really wanna hear her crying about how wrong the police were. they sad they thought he had a gun.his friend a white boy was not killed but injured on the passenger side. around here no one stands up to them, they act like gods and ride around a all day i went to school with some of them and they either was on drugs or a red neck umm not good.

  • There are no many views because no one is interested in the opinion of niggas.

If you get an Obama type, some might pay attention, but it won't make a difference.

We black people only stand together when we're under threat and believe me, the worst is yet to come

  • Wow, this video has been up for over 24 hours and only 26 views...

I've visited and my daughter lived in New Orleans for a time and I'm not really surprised about this incident, but saddens me to no end to know that it is STILL occurring.

48 shot in all, 12 in the back according to the Medical Examiner's office. Clearly no justification for such a show of force and this is why there is such distrust of law enforcement in the Black communities. This is the type of justice we usually see.
