AVAAZ.ORG and SFT: Global Day of Action for Tibet

Online human rights and environmental activist global web movement AVAAZ.ORG organized a campaign and petition to support the Tibetan people's struggle for independence in Spring 2008. Campaigners collected over a million signatures and delivered boxes of signed petitions to various Chinese Consulate locations around the world including in New York City, Chile, London and Rio. The petition calls for Hu Jintao to open dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama regarding the emergency situation in Tibet.
