I'm glad you're recommending cygwin to install git and not msysgit. Msysgit is not even a beta version yet and some books like ProGit are recommending it. Msysgit is quite buggy and should only be used in a development environment.

Git-Gui is nice (it's a google code project), it doesn't require cygwin, or msys.
