"Coraline" will be the first stop-motion animated film specifically designed for 3D projection. In this featurette, day 5 of Coraline Sneak Peek Week, the filmmakers discuss the process of shooting in 3D, and about how uniquely terrifying it is.

The director, Henry Selick, has made a stop-motion film that later had 3D added ("The Nightmare Before Christmas"), but "Coraline" is shot specifically with a 3D camera. Stop-motion, since it uses real models, puppets and materials, is one of the most eerily real forms of animation there is, so 3D is a natural fit for Coraline. In this featurette, we'll see just what kind of 3D tricks director Henry Selick and writer Neil Gaiman have up their sleeve!

  • Thanks for putting the series "together" in the responses. It made it very easy to follow the trail. I loved the movie. Thanks again for organizing it!

  • No problem. :)

  • I don't know where to buy the movie on DVD though?

  • I'm not sure if it's out in the UK yet.

  • Kudos to Wybie Lovat! He really knows how to scare the living shit out of you in 3-D but still be really friggin' cute!

  • Aww, it's okay. I totally understand. If my mother had been there when my sister and I went to see the movie, we would've had to leave, too. But... She let us see the movie by ourselves. At that part with Ms Forcible, I was the only person in the theater laughing hysterically. Everybody else just kind of gasped and sat there with their mouths hanging open, lol.

Other Mother's awesome! When she actually looks human. But when she turns into her true form... RUN AWAY!!! FAST! She's scary.
