Russia is currently home to one of the most dynamic and attractive construction equipment markets in the world.

METROPOL Group of Companies plans to build a mammoth $3.5 billion (approx. €2.04 bln.) multi-complex district in the heart of the Russian capital of Moscow based on Japanese "green" technology.

Moscow will have its Rotating Skyscraper to become the new icon of the Russian capital. The volume of investments into the tower construction is going to exceed $400 million.

Okhta Center known before March 2007 as Gazprom City is a construction project of a business center in Saint Petersburg. It will include the first supertall skyscraper in the city.

New Holland is a 19-acre artificial island, formed between the Moika River and the Admiralteisky and Kryukov canals, near the famed Mariinsky Theater.

Crystal Island is a proposed building project in Moscow, designed by Norman Foster. A £2 billion "city inside a building" in Moscow will be the world's largest building.

Expo Center is construction project closely located to the Moscow International Business Center (MIBC), which offers the city a new exposition venue, hotel, and residential development.

The Russia Tower is an unfinished supertall skyscraper in Moscow. Construction began in September 2007. Additionally, it would be the tallest building in the world with a natural ventilation system.

Sokol City (Falcon City) will be built in St. Petersburg. The total area of Sokol City is 151.5 thousand square kilometers. Judging by the location of future buildings from the owners of flats will be excellent panoramic view in the historic center of St. Petersburg.

Zenit Stadium is a new Russian Stadium that is being built in St. Petersburg, and does qualify UEFO Standards. It is capable of holding 60,000+ people.

Spartak Stadium is a multi-use stadium under construction in Moscow. Once completed in 2009, it will be used mostly for football matches and will host the homes matches of FC Spartak Moscow.

The new Sochi Olympic Stadium will be built in the new Sochi Olympic Park. It will be located within walking distance of the Olympic Village and the capacity of the stadium will be 40,000.

Moscow International Business Center formerly Moscow-City is a projected part commercial district of central Moscow. Located near the Third Ring in Presnensky District of western Moscow, the Moscow-City area is currently under intense development.

Mirax Plaza, lying 5km east of Moscow's historic center, it is situated in what is known as the "Big City" development - an initiative to develop the area into a business zone to rival those of western Europe.

Federation Island is an artificial island archipelago that will be located off the coast of Sochi in the Black Sea. The 6.2 billion$ project was announced at the International Investment Forum 2007 and was approved by president Vladimir Putin.

Sir Norman Foster revealed his designs for a new ecological tower in Khanty Mansyisk, Siberia. This tower will include places to live, work and entertain the occupants.

A Dubai-based developer said it plans to build a new Russian city on 18,000 hectares near Moscow. A $11 billion investment in the projects first 3,000-hectare phase will be made in partnership with Russian investment and development company, Coalco. The city will eventually include 150,000 residential and commercial units.

"Russia is an extremely attractive market due to active economic development and high potential for large-scale real estate projects" Dubai World chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem said.

  • This reminds me of the "free cities" of the Middle Ages, which were fundamental to making the Renaissance possible. Italy was at it most influential & creative when they were divided up amongst a multitude of small city states & republics. Even large kingdoms mainained autonomous commercial cities to bring revenue into their kingdoms.
