Dordt College Concert Choir, directed by Dr. Benjamin Kornelis, Spring 2009 Tour, The Netherlands; Vela! Asambeni Siyekhaya -- South African Folksong - arranged by Andre van der Merwe
While the singers are fine singers... I personally feel tthat the way this is done... takes the "Africa" out of it. It sounds... to me more like a barbershop quartet which can be easily done if you are not from South Africa BUT I would like to encourage people people to start doing folk music authentically.
It will be much more FUN!
lesson 1- You would NEVER EVER just stand there
Lesson 2- You more dynamics and energy in their voices. You would NEVER sing the same dynamic.
This is an inspiring and beautiful performance. The way the sopranos "float" above the melody is perfect. Mr. van der Merwe you've created a wonderful piece and it has been well presented!
