One of the complications of trabeculectomy (glaucoma filtration surgery,) especially when an antimetabolite such as Mitomycin-C is used, is that the filtering 'bleb' can get progressively thinner over time. This is less common today with the tendency toward performing the conjunctival incision at the limbus instead of in the fornix but there are still many patients in whom we see an over-sized bleb that is thin enough to be leaky resulting in hypotony and posing a risk of recurrent infections that could be sight threatening.

  • Thank you for posting this operation. Had this done last Thursday. My visual acuities returned to pre op levels byt my IOP jumped to 52mmHg. I have been advised to massage 4-5 times a day. My leak was exactly in the same position as shown on your video.
