The original "Viva Terlingua" version made the crowd hoot & holler too, but it was more contemplative and had more feeling.
With this version, like all the newer ones, they could be singing "Mary had a little lamb" or "Freebird" - it doesn't matter.

The best version . . . and so far as I know the VERY first recording (to film, not audio) is to be found in a documentary made about Willie's 2nd annual July 4 picnic.
