Pure "Samba Drumming" The Drums & Samba at Rio Carnival I like it

These 2 videos were shot at Rio Sambadrome and shows more than 300 samba drummers from 2 schools: Imperio da Tijuca and Imperio Serrano, both of them very traditional. You will be able to see a series of samba instruments at the video, like the Agogos, Tamborins, Surdo and other specific samba drums.

A lot of times when I hear this music, it is accompanied by some sort of monkey sound in the background. I can't describe it any other way... but I have been trying to figure out for the longest time what that sound is. Does anyone know what I am talking about? What kind of instrument is that?
