Dinesh D'Souza, Christian and best-selling author, will face off against Tufts professor, author, and atheist Daniel Dennett in a debate on the existence of god. The resolution for the debate will be as follows: "God is a manmade invention." Daniel Dennett will be arguing the affirmative, and Dinesh D'Souza the negative.

Maybe a person of vast intelligence whom also possesses an open mind may have a chance. Most, if not all great scientists to date do not have an open mind. Simlar to religion, they are too caught up in the rules of science that we know so far. What about the science that we are unaware about? Thats when a open mind comes in to play! Maybe a phiosopher with a vast knowledge of scince can find the answer.
Again, it is a real possibility that our creator is unaware of our existance! It is a bleak view, I know, but at least I have an open mind and I have the courage to state my views. No wonder religion is the cause of so much trouble as it is all opinion based. The problem is that these opinions are forced on us before we are even born into this world! Will we ever discover the truth? I dont think our primitive brains are advanced enough to find the answer.
Exactly how we are to the Universe. We are living in a space but we are unable to see outside that space as we are simply too minute in scale. You can argue that a bacterium has no consciousness but lets just imagine it does. We think we are so special and important that the divine creator of all things is keeping tabs on us to see if we are naughty or nice? I dont think so! I am sure the creator of all things has more important things to be doing then watching over our little planet.
Here is my theory on life, religion and science. I believe there is a very strong possibility that our creator is unaware that we even exist. I believe that we are so infinitely small in size in comparison to the unimaginable vastness of the Universe. Like an atom or bacteria exists in our body. This energy exists in our bodies but does not know this as this bacteria is too small to see outside our body.
D'Souza's arguments are weak and fallacious. His smugness would be unjustified even if this wasn't the case. Someone who doesn't play by the rules of logic can't, I'm quite sorry, 'win' a debate in which logic is involved.
Debate is great. I love debate. It can change minds...slow and rarely. So is it worth it? Sure. I was just implying that both parties come into the argument with their mind mostly made up and only look for information that backs up their stance. Most are close minded. Not all though.
