Bring Me Home for Christmas {8}

This is getting really long.. haha its officially a mini story and not a one shot. Thanks for the comments! On to the story..

After picking up two boxes of pizza from a nearby Pizza Hut and a carton of vanilla ice cream, Selena, Miley, and I are walking in the freezing cold to Joe's apartment.
"This sucks. The pizza is already probably cold. Tell me again why, Dem, we can't use your car?" Miley asks, shivering next to me.
"I told you.. my parents went out tonight and they took the car. Its not my fault that you two dont have your driver's liscense yet," I laugh.
We start down the alley where Joe's building was. "So.. um.. again, where does he live?" Selena comes out and asks.
"In that building," I say, pointing as we neared it. "Just a warning.. there's a lot of stairs." I look down at our feet, relieved that neither of them were wearing heels.
When we get to Joe's building, we start up the stairs and I laugh as they complain over and over to me.
"Why the heck isnt there an elevator in this thing? The 5th freakin' floor, too! Damn," Miley breathes.
I laugh. "I've gotten used to it already."
We make it up in one piece and I knock on Joe's door. As I wait for him to open it, I turn to my friends. "Just promise me one thing you guys." They nod. "Be nice to him," I say. "He's really--"
And then the door opens and I turn around to see Joe carrying Hailey. Joe smiles at me and then sees Miley and Selena.
"I didn't know you'd be bringing friends over," he tells me.
"Well.. surprise?" I laugh. "Joe, this is Miley and Selena. And guys, this is Joe and Hailey."
Miley smiles at Joe and nods at me in approval. "We've heard so much about you, Joe," she says to him.
"Oh you have?" Joe smirks.
Hailey squirms in Joe's arms and reaches out for me. I smile. "Hey Hails," I greet, giggling.
"Come in, come in," Joe says, moving to the side. We walk in and I set the pizza on the table and the ice cream in the fridge.
I hurry over to Joe and take Hailey from him. She smiles again once she's in my arms. Miley and Selena squeal and crowd around her.
"She's so cute!" Miley coos at Hailey, playing with her. Hailey smiles, already being amused by them. I give her to Miley who brings her to the couch and they play with her some more.
With that, I walk into the kitchen and see Joe pouring coffee into mugs. He looks over at me and smiles. "I dont know when was the last time I had people over. I'm glad. Hailey and I love the company," he says to me.
"I was hoping so," I tell him. "You might want to heat up the pizza.. its kinda cold."
"Sure thing. Thanks for that, by the way," he tells me.
The night went well. After putting the pizza in the oven for a while, we all eat a couple of slices. I've never seen Joe this happy before with just eating and watching me and my friends laugh and talk. I could tell he was having a great time. We sat around in the living room and talked about a bunch of things. I could tell that Miley and Selena approved of him.
"You would've never guessed that he's had a tough life," Selena says once Joe left to go use the bathroom. "He always has a smile on his face."
Miley agrees. "He's a really nice guy, Demi. You guys are lucky to have each other."
When Joe came back, I couldnt stop smiling. I watch as he talks with them and they have a conversation. When I feel like they have nothing else to talk about, I decide to finally give Joe what I came here to give him.
I turn to Joe. "I need to talk to you. Alone. In your room," I say.
Miley giggles. "Mmm, I think I know what you're going to do in there." She winks at us and I throw a pillow at her. "I'm just kidding." She laughs. "Go ahead. We'll watch Hailey here."
"Thanks guys," I say as Joe gives Hailey to Miley.
I take Joe's hand and lead him into his room, shutting the door behind us.
"You have really nice friends," Joe tells me. He sits down on his bed.
"They seem to like you," I say to him, smiling. "And thats a good thing."
"Yay." We both laugh. "You wanted to talk to me about something?"
I nod. "I have another gift for you."
He shakes his head. "You've already given me enough. You're spoiling me. Really, Dem. I dont think its necessary."
"I've already bought it so no use in returning it," I say. "Just remember that.. you can come to me with anything, right? That if you need something, you can always ask me."
He nods and gets up to hug me. "I seriously dont know how lucky I got when meeting you."
I smile and fish around in my bag for the wrapped tickets. When I take it out, I give it to him. He looks at it, confused.
"Open it," I urge, smiling big. On one side, I was afraid of how he might react. He might not want to go because he hasnt kept in touch with his brothers. But on the other, he might be ecstatic.
