Using a HANDSIGNED Fender Stratocaster (signed by HANK B. MARVIN), Vox AC15, Charlie Hall`s EFTP (Postecho) and a Meazzi Echomatic #1 as Pre-Echo to double the muted parts.
First attempt to play it (lol)

  • Hi odrdhs.

I see a pedal on the net called the Gemini 3(surpose to give you the Hank sound)

    Have you heard of it?

  • @MrDonal63

    Hi Donal,

I'm sorry not to be used to the Gemini but it is said to be quite a fine piece !

I'd recommend You to get a WEM Watkins Copycat, it is very often available on eB** at about 350 US-$. It makes a zesty, delightfully sound !!!!!!!

By fortune and by luck You can get an EFTP (Echoes from the Past by Charlie Hall), thats probably one of the best echodevices, but quite expensive.

Meazzis, Binsons or Long Toms are almost unaffordable and may cost often thousands of Dollars !!!!

  • Hi odrdhs.

I really enjoyed your video of you playing Apache.Great Playing!

How do you get the Hank Marvin sound?

    I have a Mexican Fender 50's classic Stratocaster and a Roland Cube-30x

What would I need to get the Shadows sound?

    Regards!

    Donal

  • @MrDonal63

    Hi,

first of all, You need a VOX-Amp (AC30 is not necessary, but a VT30 is very useful). The MexStrat is a good guitar, in my opinion she has a more authentic sound than the "original" Strats.....just compare the technical standard of the Fifties with the current standard :-)

The typical Shadows-sound is created by three components:

Strat or a Burns Marvin, VOX-Amp and the most important thing: the echobox.

The combination is it and very important: careful gain !

  • Hi Bruce,

Nice to see someone take the time to give instructions.

Great playing, but it is also nice to put your own feelings into what you play and not to copy too much, I think.

    Like your channel.

    Regards Brian

  • Thank You !!!

  • Thank you very much for big little help! I managed to play it now with the original sound... well nearly :)

  • Thanks. This helps to master that song :)

  • What a shame people can't hear the original version from 1962. It is an electric guitar but the player gets such a distinctive tone that you'll never need another version. I made sure to hunt down the actual vinyl once I made some money before 2000, because I knew I'd never hear it again if I didn't. The original is so satisfying, and few other versions are.

  • Very good - really :)

  • I give it ten out of ten, Dam good, Good playing with a great sound. Mike,,

  • I see a POD on the tabletop. Just got one myself. A little more of the fretting hand would be desirable.
