Earthquake Damage in the Library

This is the Science Library at UC Riverside. I'm currently on the 3rd floor taking video and photos. We were just hit by a 5.4 earthquake with an epicenter at Chino Hills, CA. I'm only about 40 minutes from there.

Crazy day at work. ABout 900 books fell off the top shelves on the 3rd floor and 2nd floors of the Science Library. And of those, 10 were damaged. Also reported, 69 books fell in the Rivera Library. Rivera Library shelves were more packed than Science.

I'm happy to report that our Stacks Unit are almost done reshelving all the books.

So, my question is, do you re-shelf those or put them on the cart to be re-shelved?

That is going to be a chore, because you can't just put the books back anywhere - they have to be put back in their proper sequence.

I was working at the science library when that happened. Its funny how a couple days prior I joked with my friends stating I would hate to work at the library during and earthquake.

okay when i was using my laptop and my dad was right next to me i felt an earthquak it was like ten seconds and and 5.5 that was the longest we ever had!!!

I was at the orientation inside a big room INTN 1020. We just stayed there. they didnt tell us to get out.
